Volunteer Judges Needed for 2024 Regional Science Fairs
The Potomac Section of the AIHA has proudly supported the local school systems for almost 15 years now by judging science fairs and awarding prizes to entries with an environmental, safety or occupational health focus. Our support of these fairs is an outstanding opportunity to introduce industrial hygiene as a potential scientific field of study to middle and high school students. Section volunteers in the past have found the experience to be tremendously rewarding and fun.
We are in the midst of our planning for this year’s science fairs in March and April. Our goal is to support five local fairs again this year…Montgomery, Prince George’s, Northern Virginia (Arlington), Fairfax and Loudoun Counties. It is best if we have at least three volunteers for each fair. Additionally, we need individuals for the Science Fair Coordinator role for the Loudon and Montgomery County fairs.
ALL FAIRS ARE IN PERSON!!
The judging only takes a few hours of well spent outreach time. Please refer to the fair-specific information below for dates. We have judging criteria, score forms and certificate templates available for use. Register and we will contact you! Our Science Fair Coordinator will organize the judging among the volunteer team and pass the information regarding the winners selected back to the Board so that the certificates and prizes can be awarded.
To volunteer, sign up for the fair(s) which you can attend and judge. If you can be the Fair Coordinator, contact the Event Coordinator by pressing here.
The following is a list of the five local fairs and dates along with a sign-up link - we look forward to seeing you!
