Please join us on  September 27 for a joint meeting with the American Chemistry Council. A free lunch will be offered for those attending the event in person.

First Session is from 10:20AM to 12:20PM:

Margaret Morrisey, PhD of the Korey Stringer Institute, University of Connecticut will cover the following topics:

  • Summary of the threats that heat has on health, safety, and productivity
  • Summary of where we are now (federal & state regulations)
  • Overview of Heat Safety & Performance Coalition and accomplishments
  • How to identify heat as a hazard
  • Vulnerable populations to heat illness
  • Identify and differentiate heat illnesses
  • Summarize emergency procedures for exertional heat stroke
  • In-depth review of the 8 heat stress mitigation components from the GeoHealth Research Article: “Heat Safety in the Workplace: Modified Delphi Consensus to Establish Strategies and Resources to Protect the US Workers”

Second Session 1PM - 2PM:

Mike Schmoldt is a Senior Industrial Hygienist at the Department of Energy - Argonne National Laboratory and a member of the ACGIH committee on Thermal Stress. He will discuss The ACGIH TLV Noticed of Intended Changes for Heat Stress and Strain.
